Hi all. The folks at the Workers Interfaith Network (WIN) want to invite everyone to a workshop next Thursday. (It looks long, but it includes dinner!)
Roots of Migration Workshop April 17th 4-7:30, Bethany Lutheran
The purpose of this event is first to hear from our keynote, Father Uvi, about the focus of his work in Oaxaca, MX, the realities facing people there, and the major push factors for migration. Ultimately, he will provide context for the current crisis that we're witnessing here in MN and across the nation with increased workplace abuses, exploitation and criminalization of immigrants, raids and deportation and the separation of families. The second half of the workshop will focus on small group discussion and reflection about the frameworks currently used to analyze and address the current crisis and key policies that are the driving forces behind it. Lastly, we'll look at ways to take action, including getting involved with the New Sanctuary Worker Movement and Community Raid Response, and how people can bring all this information back to their community, organization or congregation.

“Ningún pueblo de América Latina es débil, porque forma parte de una familia de doscientos millones de hermanos que padecen las mismas miserias, albergan los mismos sentimientos, tienen el mismo enemigo, sueñan todos un mismo mejor destino y cuentan con la solidaridad de todos los hombres y mujeres honrados del mundo entero.” (Segunda declaración de la Habana)
