OK MAYAN READERS,
The 2008 election is over. The transition of power is in process. POTUS elect Obama's coat tails were long and swept all democrats in local elections into office. Congressional races, Cook County offices, etc.... all benefitted from the Obama sweep.
Latinos locally (85 - 90%) and nationally (72%) voted in overwhelming numbers for Obama. In the weeks and months ahead....REMEMBER THAT!!!
But let us not forget what made such an overwhelming Obama victory possible.
1) The will of the nation to end the war in Iraq.
2) The desire of the Mexican/latino community for a humane and fair comprehensive immigration reform.
3) The will of the people to put an end to the Bush crime cabal NATIONAL POLICE STATE.
4) The desire of the people to once again have Constitutional rights protected...and to bring an end to the POLICE STATE TORTURE PRISON IN GUANTANAMO BAY CUBA.
5) The demand to end the war against Mexican immigrant families, the raids, immoral detentions and deportations that are destroying families and civil liberties.
There are more issues that are burning in the heart and minds of the people.....all of it can be summed up in the desire to bring an end to the Bush Crime Cabal's crime spree.... the crimes against humanity....and the insanity of a war on terror policy that has brought the nation to the brink of world war 111.
These are the themes that drove the majority of the people to sweep Obama and the democratic party into an impressive election victory.
It was not just the charisma and charm of Obama......IT WAS THE ISSUES!!!!
So in the next few weeks, and months....let us not forget what has brought the nation to the point in which the first african american President of the USA has been elected.
Some would argue that anyone ....running as the democratic candidate....could have won this election. To a large degree that is true. The nation was ready to throw out the republican gang of criminals and start anew....start fresh.
Now, I am not celebrating this victory....not yet. Because I am waiting to see what will materialize from this transition of power.
I am not happy with the first announcement of the new POTUS elect. The appointment of Rahm Emmannuel as Presidential chief of staff.
THE SAME RAHM EMMANUEL THAT HELPED TO PUSH THE SENSENBRENNER HR 4437 THROUGH THE CONGRESS IN DECEMBER 2005!!!!
This is not a good sign Gente. Rahm Emmannuel has already stated for the record (during the primary campaign) that immigration reform would not be a priority during the first term (4 years) of an Obama administration. THAT IS FOUR YEARS THAT WE HAVE TO WAIT BEFORE IMMIGRATION REFORM BECOMES A PRIORITY TO THE NEW OBAMA ADMINISTRATION!!!
Now Rahm Emmanuel was stating this as a democratic congressional leader. Now that he is chief of staff......this is an even more ominous situation. So what does this mean? Does the new Obama regime continue the abysmal immigration enforcement policies of the Bush crime cabal????
IF SO......IS THAT WHAT THE MAJORITY OF LATINO VOTERS EXPECT FROM THE NEW OBAMA REGIME????
Rahm Emmanuel is also a "war hawk". Does his appointment as chief of staff signal that Obama will continue the war on terror in the middle east????
It is not a good start to a new regime that has been promising "CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN." IN FACT, IT IS AN ABYSMAL START!!!

When POTUS Obama announces that he is closing the prison camp on Guanamo Bay....then I will celebrate!!!
When POTUS Obama announces an end to the immoral raids, detentions and deportations of Mexican and immigrant working families.....THEN I WILL CELEBRATE!!!!
When POTUS Obama moves to repeal the Patriot act, the Military Commissions act, the immigration enforcement provisions in the Consolidated Appropriations Bill of 2008, when Obvama shuts down ECHELON, and restores the rights of HABEUS CORPUS.....then I will celebrate!!!!
When POTUS Obama announces the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.....then I will celebrate!!!!
When POTUS Obama announces the impeachment, investigation and prosecution of the Bush Crime Cabal for crimes against humanity and against the Constitution of the USA.....THEN I WILL CELEBRATE!!!!
Until then.... I wait...and watch!!!!
