On July 27, 2008, Jewish Community Action led three full buses of over 150 people to Postville, Iowa. In Iowa, we met up with our co-planners, Jewish Council on Urban Affairs (Chicago) and St. Bridget Catholic Church (Postville). Together, over 1000 Jews and non-Jews marched, rallied, and prayed to bring attention to the need for immigration reform, an end to raids, and improved working conditions for those who toil to produce food fit for our community. We also delivered over $30,000 in collected donations for the families affected by the raid for food and other humanitarian relief. View video footage of the day
here.

Despite international attention and pressure, conditions have worsened in Postville, contact us for more details.

In addition to urging you to give food, Jewish Community Action encourages you to join us in changing the conditions that allowed this situation to happen in the first place – a broken immigration system and lack of protections and rights for workers. To join our efforts, please contact Lauren Bastien (lauren@jewishcommunityaction.org), Vic Rosenthal (vic@jewishcommunityaction.org) or Melissa Rudnick (melissa@jewishcommunityaction.org).
