The panel represents a unique opportunity to hear from a scholar from the island on the Cuban perspective on the prospects for change in U.S.-Cuban relations in the wake of the election of Barack Obama. Professor Castro is one of the first Cuban scholars to gain entrance to the United States in recent years. She is a resident scholar at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.
